read morethe wilfull & chainsaw & tetany

I went back home this weekend and I got to play with the new chainsaw (a Husqvarna 350) and we made light work of a couple of trees that were cut down to make the new road.. We couldn’t do anything with the roots so a dumper arrives today and the help of a digger the roots will be sent away!
We had a bad start to sunday, woke up to see a cow stretched out.. (not the way the stretch out in summer when they are full and feeling lazy) she had died from tetany. Tetany is where animals are susceptible to a disease condition characterized by low blood magnesium. Initial symptoms are usually characterized by excessive alertness, wary appearance, and fine twitching of muscles of the face and ears. The affected animal will be uncoordinated and walk with a stiff gait. After a few minutes to 3 to 4 hours, the animal may suddenly drop with convulsive spasms, lying on its side with rapid paddling movements of the limbs. Death often occurs in convulsions, or the animal may become comatose before dying. It is not uncommon for all symptoms to occur in a span of 2 to 3 hours and when this happens in darkness.. it is very hard to spot. So we decided to bring all the animals into the shed .. this took quite a while, but we can now rest assured they are all safe and snug in the shed.
Went to the see the Wilfull v2 last night, a lot darker, grungier – they sound good and gigs are starting to roll in. ssmh must gig soon.

Well another year draws to a close and that means only one thing. Fun Run. This year there was over 3000 euros aised for two charities (Cari and Br. Russell house) and there was about 50 runners on the day. Everyone in the group was running except one or two, and everyone did very well. Dorel, Joe, Anthony and Sean were among the top finishers, Barry, Padraig and Mike O’Loughlin did fantastic. Maz, Connie, Billy, and Niall all had a good run. I was happy with my run this year..infact I’ve improved on my previous times!
The photos should be up soon and MikeM has video footage!!
