Birthday!

It was my birthday last week and I had a great one, loads of happy birthday wishes/gifts and a few birthday cards. One from home which read:

perhaps my best years are gone, but I wouldn’t want them back, not with the fire in me now” which is from a poem by Beckett. hmmm. The card included a lotto ticket with which I won 5 euro so I will let them away.

The weekend (weather wise) was pretty miserable but it was the first weekend Shelly and I were both around so we made the most of it. On Friday evening Shelly took me out for dinner in Adare. We went to The Wild Geese restaurant and I have to say it was a great meal – the steak cooked to perfection, the cream of pea, mint and smoked bacon soup served with chive cream is divine. You must try it sometime.

Saturday, got up late and lounged around the house for while, watched the Wigan – Liverpool game while the wind and rain howled outside. After the match we went to a charity event out in Castleconnell. It was for Dafur and organised by a friend of Shelly. This year was it’s second year running and the crowd braved the weather to donate a few euros and have a glass or two of mulled wine… hmmm tasty mulled wine. Christmas is really coming!

Sunday we went to the Munster v Connacht game in the gales and pouring rain. It wasn’t the worst game ever and Munster won with a good score in the end 13:0 . I was surprised Munster fielded a strong team, normally you wouldn’t recognise half the players when Munster play in the Magners League. Their defense was on top form, Connacht had the ball for long periods in the first half but couldn’t convert possession in to points. A couple of kicks from RoG and a try from Cullen sealed the result.

Thanks!

A big thanks to all who made donations to Concern, You raised over 180 euro. THANK YOU!!

The FAST was fine, started on the evening of the 29th @ 8pm (after a meal Spaghetti Bolognese) and finished the following evening @ 8.
It’s kinda strange, your body is used to the routine of having a meal during certain time windows, when it doesn’t get the meal, it starts to grumble for a while and then settles down again until the time window. Very Strange.
I didn’t just sit and do nothing all day; I was in at 9, worked my day, gave a lecture @ 5 and played soccer @ 6 for an hour. Have to admit, I really started to feel the lack of energy during soccer, when I got back, had a shower and reheated the remains of the Spaghetti Bolognese.
