from another time…

I was cleaning up the Photos/Pictures Directory over the weekend and I came across a couple of images I created nearly 10 years ago. At the time I was working in Intel on Co-Op and really didn’t have a lot to do at the start.. so I downloaded a Light and Studio Arts package and began to mess around.. I made loads, these are the only two to remain.

Is music dead ?

I should have known better..
I quite liked Rouge Traders Voodoo Child – the guitar was pretty cool and it was a simple riff to play, throw in the wah-wah pedal and it sounds even better. I thought to myself, isn’t it great in this day and age to come up with a catchy song with a simple riff – it gave me hope that perhaps I could come up with a simple 4 chord song that would change the world :) However this hope didn’t last long. I was listening to an obscure Elvis Costello album (‘This Years Model’ 1978) early this week and ‘Pump it up’ came on with the same catchy riff.. I was gutted. I should have known better. Perhaps all the good music is in the past and everything today is just a rehash. The “new” stuff may sound good to us but some artist has already done it before – we just haven’t heard it.

2007..

We are well into 2007 now, Christmas is over for another year and the long dark drizzly days are here for a while. The flip side of this is Spring is coming!

Christmas was good, O was home from Sweden, Aido made a trip home also. I was in Galway a few times visiting the “Little One” but spent New Years in Gers house playing scrabble and watching Podge and Rodge. Didn’t do too much over the break as it was the first year I didn’t have a paper/deliverable to have ready. I relaxed for most of it doing a bit of wall building, chopping logs, feeding a few cattle and chasing some sheep… pretty normal really :)
