Simple things in life..

Saturday. I drove the folks up to Dublin to see Huckleberry. He is now one, starting to walk and starting to talk – I’m thinking PhD candidate! Huckleberry and I had a great time playing with his toys in particular the animal train and the work shop desk which has two buttons (it has other stuff but they are not important to him). The simplest of things amaze babies. Huckleberry would press a button which would cause the other button to pop up, which he then wanted to push down! This would repeat for a while giving the same amount of satisfaction each time the button was pressed. As adults we would grow tired of this very very quickly. We see and push buttons all the time (as I type I mash multiple buttons at once!). Wouldn’t it be amazing to recapture that sense of awe and wonder that a baby has – just for a while?

At around 6.30 we decided to leave and head for home. We dropped O back to her place and it took a good 40 minutes to get across the city. Driving in Dublin city is not for me – it is a real pain in ze-derrière and Saturday night simply reaffirmed my dislike of the place.

Sunday. I got to feel like a kid again. I hadn’t used the tractor on the farm since its arrival in November ( due to my little accident) and wow is it cool! More levers and buttons to play with than the old tractor, 12 different gear combinations to go forward and reverse in, and loads of power! It was great discovering all the different things the tractor could do but alas it wasn’t long before I had discovered most things. The moment was nice though. I’m hoping it is one of the Transformer kind of tractors :)
