While offline I made some small changes to the site, RSS feed now works, site search enabled and customised. We have a new blogger in our midst – welcome y2kprawn. Ever wonder what the Sys Rq key on your keyboard does? Not a lot I hear you say!
According to [1]
“There is no standard use for the key. The BIOS keyboard routines in INT 16 simply ignore it; therefore so do the DOS input routines in INT 21 as well as the keyboard routines in libraries supplied with high-level languages. “
Wiki also suggest that.. ” it was intended to be available as a special key to directly invoke low-level operating system functions with no possibility of conflicting with any existing software“
Well here is one super cool feature for Linux when your screen locks up (not often I know) .
hold Alt + Sys Rq while typing REISUB
Typically use this when Alt + F2 etc doesn’t work nor does Crtl + Alt + Backspace
For laptops add the Fn key !
The New School of Rock
Liverpool John Moores University officially is the new School of Rock.
Brian May the lead guitarist from Queen* was appointed chancellor (taking over from Mrs Blair) earlier in the week. I would love to attend May’s lectures.. I wonder does he teach astrophysics by playing some killer riffs on his Red Special? I wonder.

*Queen isn’t the only band to have PhD’s. SSMH may have been one of the most educated bands in the world with 2 Phds 2 M’Engs and 2 B’Engs (yes Fluffy you’ll be an M’something-or-other soon too but at the time you held a B’Eng). ps Fluffy, when are you going to blog again.. that goes for you too L-Man and Maz!!
Manchester Utd vs Arsenal April 13th 2008
The view from our seats..
At 3.55pm the teams came out..
United were very nervous in the first half and kept giving the ball away.
United had a few chances – Ronaldo smashing his free kick into the wall didn’t help to settle the players/crowds nerves.
Like a lot of United players Scholesy had a bad first half ..
And just before the half time, Arsenal were 1 up with a dodgy goal – it was definitely handball!!
The second half was just amazing, United got a penalty and Ronaldo tucked it away into the left hand side..
I didn’t get a chance to take more photos – too busy enjoying the game! Once Hargreaves scored the second goal the place went nuts!
And the final result ? 2:1 to United.. Super win. Super day! Thanks again to the little one!
