Gmail Gets Themes

Finally.. Gmail gets themes.
Shiny new themes that don’t kill Gmail - like stylish.
Log into gmail and Click Settings.. there you will find Themes - pick your favourite (shiny is my current fav). I’m sure it won’t be long until the user community can contribute and add new themes.
Thank you Gmail
Cool (nerd) stuff

In windoze I am always changing my desktop background, icons, theme etc. and I often change my windows shell too (in the past litestep was my number one choice). This week I am playing with objectdock from stardock. It’s pretty nifty, easy to use and keeps things nice and tidy. Ok - it’s blatantly a rip off of the Apple OS thing but it’s cool! It does not beat the flexibility/style/eye candy of gnome/kde/xfce but it’s nice to have some pretty for windows too!

The other cool thing I came across is the Customize Google extension for Firefox. It allows you to configure every aspect of Google! The nicest options are filtering, the removing of the ads etc from any/all of Google products. For example in Gmail - it gives you more room to read your emails.. which is only a good thing. Anyway, it works in linux/windows and is now, along with gspace, Ad block plus, the first thing I’ll be installing when Firefox 3 comes out.
Reading the y2kprawn blog entry on GOS (Good Operating System not Google operating system which it tries to be) I downloaded the live CD and installed it. It’s nice and all but as y2kprawn points out.. it can be a little infuriating! I don’t think it will replace Ubuntu on my machines just yet but it’s one to watch. I might be tempted to run it on old laptop or perhaps an Asus EEE if I pick one up.
Discussing laptops and all things electronic with some of the people at TridentCom the general consensus is that theMacBook Air is indeed insanely beautiful but not really that practical or value for money.. the XPS 1330 is looking good.
